Princess Beauty Salon Game Review

Game name: Princess Beauty Salon

About the game: It’s less of a “game” and more of an application that little kids can play with to pass the time (or something like that), or almost like a digital doll.

Features:

·         Give princess a facial/spa/get rid of her pimples

·         Put makeup on the princess

·         Dress her up with different clothes

When installing: Must allow a Wi-Fi connection and access to photos/media/files (although I have not experienced the app accessing personal files/photos/media). Other than that, it’s a simple install, no real issues.

Game Play: Very simple game-play. All you really do is drag objects like tweezers to the character’s eyebrows, hover over them and it tweezes the eyebrows. Other things are a back rub, massage, etc. Then you dress her up, put makeup on her and then the “game” is over. Not a really big deal. I didn’t really like it; it was too simple for me.

RATINGS:   (Based on a 1-10 scale)

     Art: 4 (I’m not big on “cartoon-y” art, but the art was clean)
     Gameplay:  3
     Concept: 5 (I didn’t like it, but some may, so I set it at average)
     Fun factor: 3 (eh, not my thing)
     Performance:  8 (it was slow in some parts of the game, but mostly quick loading, etc.)

Summary:
                This “game” can be considered a “time-killer”. If you have a little girl (age 3-12-ish?) on a long drive, just for example, this can distract the child for a little while. It’s a very simple application. But it won’t last very long; half an hour at most.

Ups:

·         The art is very clean

·         Good for killing time

Downs:

·         Pop-up ads are slightly irritating, but predictable, so it can be ignored fairly simply

·         Music is very repetitive, it gets very obnoxious very fast

·         There are some areas where I can’t pick up items, and then suddenly I can. Just weird.

Summary:

It’s a really easy game to play, fast to open/close and simple, too simple for me, I didn’t like it so I uninstalled it.

·         Easy game to play while “on the pot”

·         Almost no ads

Downs:

·         They don’t have a website???

·         It gets monotonous very quickly

·         It’s not exactly very appropriate for children or socially appropriate lol!

Plumber Game Review

Game name: Plumber

Platform(s): Android, iPhone, Windows Phone

Genre:  Puzzle

About the game:
                Plumber is a free, easy-to-use puzzle game with HD graphics, in which your job is to prevent a flood from happening! Simply turn the different pipe pieces by touching them and connect them together to form a complete pipe. When you create a pipe, you will reduce the overall water levels. Make sure you anticipate a possible overflow!

Features:

·         Many, many languages available

·         Easy to figure out, hard to master it

·         2 game modes available: Arcade mode (adjust as many pipes until it fills up) and Challenge mode (evolve through a series of 200 varying difficulty levels)
           

When installing:
     Must allow access to external storage, allow the app to determine the phone number and device ID’s, whether a call is active, and the remote number connected by a call. Game size is 10.84mb.

Game Play:
     Plumber doesn’t choke or crash like many games do, and it looks somewhat realistic (“cartoon-y” but still looks good) and animations are very smooth.

Summary:
     This type of game has been done so many times, I cannot say. That being said, I still like this game. It’s not necessarily the easiest game to master, but I still like it. It’s not a game I can play for hours, but for a little while it’s a great game.

·         Animations are very smooth

·         Keeps previous update history available on the “About” screen
